Emotionism religion Essay

I call my concocted religion Emotionism. My religion will be founded essentially on the conviction that feelings are an appearance of one’s confidence. It will have the recorded dramatization that is found in Roman Catholicism in that it will convey confidence by establishing this in records of individuals in the past who have been in contact with the originator of the confidence. These records will be the establishment of my religion since they will strengthen the confidence by approving the adoration and empathy that one Jesus Christ had for His kin. Notwithstanding, it will have none of the formal acts of Catholicism since all these make it hard to love utilizing the heart; rather, they center around love with the psyche and the body. In the way of love and love, my religion will follow the methods for Buddhism and will concentrate on reflection and consideration. Emotionism will look to set up the magnificence of love utilizing conditions of the brain and the heart. It will energize ventures into one’s awareness and disclosures into one’s self; thus, similar to Buddhism, will esteem man’s insight and urge it to prosper. Emotionism, similar to Buddhism, will put together its practices with respect to the methods of reasoning of introspective philosophy so every Emotionist will look to ascend past one’s current level. Emotionists will empower connects between the heart and the components, between the psyche and nature, and the soul and the universe. My developed religion will advance concordance rather than division, which, albeit tended to by Catholicism through ecumenism, despite everything exists among the numerous Christian orders. Emotionism will perceive the all inclusiveness of things like Hinduism does. It will likewise adjust the strict energy of Hindus who accept that feelings are a strong power in modifying one’s condition. One other part of Hinduism that Emotionism will take into its folds is seeing past the physical self and perceiving the association one human has with another as far as the soul †that each soul originates from a solitary source and that all spirits are connected together by one ongoing idea. Emotionism will likewise advance strict enthusiasm the manner in which Muslims do. The strict enthusiasm and loyalty of Muslims rise above boundaries of reality. Muslims live their confidence and this is the sort of value that I might want Emotionism to have. Emotionists will look to protect themselves the manner in which they safeguard their confidence and the other way around, something Muslims are known for. Emotionism will in this manner have the recorded establishments of Catholicism, the love techniques and philosophical statutes of Buddhism, the enthusiasm and acknowledgment for feelings of Hinduism and the strict intensity of Islam. These components of the different religions that I might want to consolidate would make for a practically flawless religion with the goal that all the bothersome components of every religion are disposed of and just the attractive angles adjusted. While it is maybe unimaginable that such a religion could exist, it is an activity in keenness to realize that religion can in certainty be a mixture of convictions and components radiating from different other, progressively old practices and societies. I imagine my religion to be widely inclusive with the goal that no guidelines and laws figure out who can join my religion. The most significant part of my religion is the way that it will endeavor to join each one of those partitioned by the unconventionalities of religion, particularly Christians and Muslims. It will look to engender understanding and the truth that even with various religions, all the people groups of the world in reality simply buy in to a solitary idea, and that is the idea of affection and sympathy.

Classical Conditioning The Greatest Ideas Of Our Culture

Classical conditioning is one of the greatest ideas of our culture. Any person, regardless of his or her background, could be trained to act in a particular manner given the right conditioning. Classical conditioning is continuously happening in our life. How we act has significant repercussions of accepting typical and chaotic actions with people. Classical (or Pavlovian) conditioning is one of the fundamental ways we learn about the world around us. But it is far more than just a theory of learning; it is also arguably a theory of identity. Behaviorism , likewise identified as interactive consciousness, remains a philosophy of knowledge found on the awareness that every conduct exist by doing something over and over. Adapting†¦show more content†¦Then a previous thought of unbiased motivation is put together with a logically motivation. Ultimately, the formerly impartial incentive arises to arouse the reaction devoid of the existence of the logically happening stimulus. T he two elements are then known as the conditioned stimulus and the conditioned response. As people learn fresh ways of doing things; then usually bad actions and habits change. They are more than willing to make the changes with each time they use the new ideas. There are three stages of classical conditioning; the first step is called: Before Conditioning, the second: During Conditioning and the last is: After Conditioning. A strong point of classical conditioning theory is that the situation is logical. Since it s centered on using firsthand proof which is supported by organized trials? One of the most famous examples of classical conditioning was John B. Watson s experiment in which a fear response was conditioned in a young boy known as Little Albert. The child initially showed no fear of a white rat, but after the presentation of the rat was paired repeatedly with loud, scary sounds, the child would cry when the rat was present. The child s fear also generalized to other fuzzy white objects. Classical conditioning is able to be used to intensify the quantity of someone s conduct, while it can also lessen how they act. If all the models were to be used depending on the situations then all behaviors can be learned. How

The South America With A Difference - 1697 Words

Scholars have referred to the South as â€Å"America with a difference†. This difference has tried to be defined by different historians, and it has produced various strains of the American South history. Therefore, the south has drawn various historians, novelists, and poets in the quest to define the central theme of the southern history. This has largely interested many scholars as the south was known to be settled by a different Englishman, its experience of poverty since it was a nation that only knew abundance and its loss in the civil war as it was known as a nation that always had success (Gerster and Cords 11). Some writers have tried to define the difference of southern America regarding its passion for agriculture and slavery.†¦show more content†¦Southernism did not come from any migration patterns, lie in language or religion, was not created by one crop farming nor did agriculture produce the southern way of life. The South was therefore intended to rema in a nation of the whites. Racism in the south arose when the Negroes became numerous to a level of giving difficulty in race control in the interest of the government and to maintain the Caucasian civilization. There had to be a way of social order and racial adjustment; thus slavery was introduced. With time, slavery was defended as vested interest and with vehemence and vigor to provide a guarantee of the white civilization and supremacy. Slaveholders of that time differed in their opinions and sentiments. It went to an extent that for other groups that lived in the mountains public opinion never existed, and they were just forced to choose between alternatives that were created for them. Racism was also boosted by the fact that in the 19th century, America was experiencing heavy industrialization thus labor shortage mainly in the rail and mining industries (Fraser and Moore 266). The presence of the Chinese and African Americans was considered as an advantage as they took the whites jobs at a lower pay. These people were also considered to be inferior to the whites and, therefore, could be used for the benefits of the whites. As this continued, the Chinese were banned from

Dolla Lets Make a Toast free essay sample

Dollar Make a Toast Redbrick Anthony Burton II, better known by his rap name Dollar was born on November 25, 1987 In Chicago Illinois. He was born as a twin but his brother ended up dying during birth, leaving him the only boy with two sisters. In 1991 his father moved their family to Los Angles, California for a new life but noticed that times were tougher here than In Chicago. When Dollar was five a big tragedy occurred In his life when his father committed suicide by shooting himself in front of him and his sister Divinity. After his fathers suicide his mother decided to make a move down to Atlanta, Georgia to create a new life for her family. But again financial burdens occurred and by the age of ten Dollar had to help support his family, even if that meant breaking the law. Still through all the struggle he had one dream, and that dream was to become a rapper. To pursue his dream he started writing raps In his elementary school classes. One of my favorite rap songs ever, Make a Toast is the second and final single from rapper Dollars debut album A Dollar and a Dream. The song was produced by Julian Banquet and has an upbeat, triumphant feel to it, even though Julian Banquet Eng the background vocals on the chorus he was not given any credit for being in the song, other than being the producer. Make a Toast is from the twentieth century, it was officially released to radio and tunes on November 4, 2008, but the song had been leaked to the internet long before its official release. The song is three minutes and fifty seconds long and also features the best rapper alive Ill Wayne. It was a very popular song topping off on the U. S. AP charts in 2008 at number seventeen (Wisped). The pitch of a song Is the frequency of the vibrations In a note. When Make a Toast starts the beat has a high pitch, with the song beginning with a ding ding ding sounding beat. This is probably to give the song a sound to get the listeners attention, to kind of set it apart from other rap songs with more of a basic sounding beat. Then at thirty-eight seconds into the song when the chorus ends and when Dollar starts rapping the beat gets a much lower pitch. Then a thumping sounding bass continues through his lyrics. When the song gets to a minute and twenty-seven seconds Ill Wanes part begins with a more of a higher pitch, this is to set his section of the song apart from Dollars. Then after his part the chorus repeats with the same beat that last throughout all of the chorus sections of the song. The last part of the song begins with Dollar rapping, once again this begins with a beat with a high pitch, to set it apart from the chorus. The tone color Is very bright because the song has a faster beat than most songs. Also the lyrics are sang pretty quickly which always has your attention.Vibrato, or changes in pitch, occur quite frequently throughout the entire song. These changes happen during every chorus, every time Dollar, and when All Wayne start rapping, which forces their parts stand out from the chorus. Ill Wayne uses an auto-tune effect during his part, which gives his voice vibrato because it can change the pitch of his vocals. Went into this song. The intonation is absolutely perfect, it seems like everything connects together in this rap song. It seems like the lyrics intervene very well to the rhythm of the beat. All three singers in this song are amazing on how they can rap to the exact same beat and not get out of tune with their singing. The connection from Dollar singing his lyrics to when Julian Banquet starts the background vocals is put together perfectly because there are no weird pauses or anything like that. This is in the chorus right after when Dollar says Make a Toast then Banquets part comes in the background when he says Whoa Oh. Rap singers are absolutely amazing in the way they can hold their breaths for so long and Just sing. Thus, the phrasing, or a musical sentence which usually last until the singer takes a breath, are also very long. This is one of the major reasons I like rap music because they sing a ton of words without taking a break and making the song boring. During this song the only time Dollar or Ill Wayne make a pause to take a breath is after their singing, when the chorus is Just about to begin. This is the only time there is a split second of pausing in between the vocals. The melody in Make a Toast is pretty much the same throughout the entire song.It would be conjunct because the pitches are close together and relatively have the same sound. It is legato because when the beat repeats it is smooth and connected. Most of the newer rap music is like this because the beats are made on a computer and not by instruments. That means that the beat can play over and over and sound exactly the same every time. Most of this song is monophonic, because for almost all the song there is only one arson singing at a time. All three of the singers sing to almost the same rhythm, Just a few changes to the beat when each person starts their part. But every time the chorus is sung part of it has a homophobic melody. This is because right after Dollar say Make a Toast Julian Banquet is in the background saying Whoa Oh. This is considered to be homophobic because their are two people singing at the same time, but they are both in sync with each other and are singing to the same rhythm. I think Make a Toast has a consonant harmony, because I like the lyrics to the Eng and the I enjoy listening to the beat. But then again I pretty much only listen to rap music, so it is the genre of music that I like.So when a new song comes out by an artist I like nine times out of ten I am going to like the song because an artist I enjoy listening to sings it. I also know that someone older in age, around forty and up, would think Make a Toast has a dissonant harmony. And this is mostly because rap music is not the style of music they like listening to. In example, my father would listen to this song and say this song is terrible please turn it off, this shot off it hurts y ears! And I believe this is because he grew up to, and still listen to classic rock, so he will never enjoy the fast beats of hip-hop music. This song, Just like most rap songs, has a fast tempo, which makes this genre of music stand out from the rest. The tempo of this song is allegro, because the beat and the vocals are sound fast. Its only allegro because Vie heard rap songs that are a little faster, but by no means is this song slow. The beat starts from the beginning and Just stays fast until the songs over. The musical dynamics, or the loudness or softness of a musical composition of ere loud beat, and a lot of thumping bass in it, so Dollar and Ill Wayne had to rap loud to be heard. The only time where the music softens up is at two minutes and twenty-five seconds into the song, when Julian Banquets part begins. Here the dynamics change to mezzo forte, because he is not singing too loud or too soft. The formal structure for this song is rondo, because it does not have the normal two or three part form. The vocals are in an BACKED style. The chorus in this song is represented by the A and the verses are the BACKED. This song, Just like most rap songs, does not have a key. A key is the concept of interrelated chords based on the notes of the major and minor scales. The key is indicated at the beginning of each piece by means of a key signature. There was nothing indicated at the beginning of this song to indicate a key. I think this is because the beat of this song was computer generated. Then a tragedy occurred on May 18, 2009 when Dollar was shot outside of the Beverly Center mall in Los Angles. Dollar Just finished eating at P. F. Changes with his brother Scrap Deletion and friend DC Shabby, and was waiting outside in valet for his car when the shooting occurred. Aubrey Louis Berry was the man who shot Dollar ND fled the scene of the crime.Dollar got shot four times, three times in the back, and once in the bicep. He was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center which was only a few blocks away, but soon after died from his injuries. Berry was later found not guilty of first degree murder. Even though Berry brought the gun to a business lunch at the mall, where the two men spotted each other and exchanged words in the valet area. Berry pleaded not guilty to all charges, and testified in court that he acted in self defense, saying twenty-one year old Dollar threatened to kill him and that he believed he had a gun.Berry and Dollar reportedly were involved in a fight at an Atlanta strip club Just a couple of weeks before the L. A. Shooting. Berrys attorney, Howard Price emphasized the self-defense angle, saying Burtons music and online videos were examples of his supposed gang ties. Prosecutors tried to make the case that police never found a weapon on Burton, and that the musician was shot in the back as he tried to flee. But they could never convict Berry because they believed that the rapper Dollar did have a gun on him when he was shot but one of his friends took it off him after he was shot (Man Charged With Dollars Murder).

Theater Experience Essays - Startup Cult, Nelle A. Coley

Theater Experience Ok, so the only reason I joined theater class was because I needed an easy A. A blow-off class of some sort, to balance out the rest of my schedule. I got much more than that. I am taking with me a sense of self-worth, and confidence. I acquired the ability to think on my feet, and the motivation to get up and do something when faced with a new situation, not just giggle and turn red. The biggest thing, I think, is the ability to just talk to people and not be worried about what they think. After all, I can't be embarrassed after I think about some of the stuff that I did this year in front of the class. I found that I can go ahead and talk to someone I don't know, instead of just standing there, awkwardly. After spending five weeks on improvisation during the first semester, I can think on my feet. It also gives me something to do when the telemarketers call. I can think of something to say when I'm talking to one of dad's clients. And of course, if someone gets into a situation that they can't quite explain, I can whip up a story in no time flat, (not that I would ever get into trouble or anything). After taking the class, I never have my back to someone when I'm talking. I can project, (sort of). I know what Snagglepus is talking about when he says "Exit, stage right!" Stage fright is no longer a big thing for me. I can play a crazy role very well. I can talk in British and Russian accents, (..."Daahlink, ve must get moose and skverrl!"). I can pick out bad actors/actresses in movies and shows. I have a deep respect for the theater arts. I am not much of an actress, but I love being backstage, all stressed out, trying to iron out all the last minute wrinkles before the show. Being in theater class introduced me to Theatre Club, which gave me a chance to be a part of this year's production. I was glad to do everything from pinning up costumes, to reprogramming the light board for the fifty-eighth time, to just being the gopher, or listening to a nervous actress go over her dramatic solo one last time. It's just knowing that I am part of the whole thing, working with so many people for so long, then watching it all come together. Backstage craft wasn't a big part of the class, but the relationship/every-one-is-a-link-universal-truth part of it was an undertone lesson throughout the whole class. When we had to work with people that we had known all our lives, but had never talked to before, and create something; that was cool. Through theater class, I got introduced to the lighting and sound room, which I love. I guess it's a power trip, or something, but I just feel good knowing that I am the first female student to ever run the school's light board. I like being in charge, and being able to lock the door, and not let anyone in. Next year, I will have to train a sophomore to take over my job, before I graduate, which seems pretty scary, and puts my remaining high school timeframe in perspective. I have tried to outline some of random thoughts about the past year's third hour class. It wasn't the blow-off class I was expecting, and it helped me get through a few of my other classes. In college, I may pursue the backstage positions, but honestly, I don't think that theater will be a major part in my life as I go riding off into the sunset, but I've enjoyed it all the same.

Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the application of LED bulbs Essay

Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the application of LED bulbs for solving climate change - Essay Example Through such an engagement and analysis, it is the hope of this student that the reader will be able to gain a useful level of inference concerning LED technology and the future of how it will be accepted, utilized, and effect a gradual impact on green living within society. There are a range of regulatory frameworks which have been designed to encourage more awareness of energy consumption rates. Schemes such as ‘Smart Grids’ create greater efficiencies in energy consumption by monitoring consumer behaviour within electricity networks (Clastres, 2011). In a similar way the use of LED bulbs is now presented as part of the solution of reducing energy consumption (Humphreys, 2008). This is particularly important, not just as a single appliance saving energy, but as part of a wider shift in how users are adopting LED bulbs for in many respects, In man, it is behavioural changes which are the critical factor in tackling climate change, (Hobson, 2006). This view is supported by Paterson and Stripple (2010) who argue that individuals can contribute to the governing of climate change by undertaking specific actions to solve the problem. Hobson (2008) also notes that a gap currently exists between knowledge and action and that this has prevented the full realisation of a range of benefits from environmentally friendly initiatives. As a result, Hobson (2008) further asserts that policies relating to climate change should focus on removing such barriers through increased public education, infrastructural improvements and improving access to ‘green’ goods. Slocum (2004a) argues that climate change discourse should localize the effects of global warming in order that society has a better understanding about energy consumption and its effects on the local and global environment. With reference to wider issues of lighting, Slocum (2004a) further

The Need for Privatization Essay Example for Free

The Need for Privatization Essay Every paycheck 7.65 percent is taken out for a retirement program, after the employer kicks in, a total of 12.4 percent of what you earn goes to the government to fund your retirement. The government system offers minuscule returns by anyones measure and the system is expected to go bankrupt as soon as 2014. If a private company had these problems, no one would invest. But, this is a mandatory program, Americans have to stay in this system and are forced to invest in its fated future. Social Security is one of the biggest disasters of American history. In a country that was founded on the principles of Capitalism and free markets, this socialist program limits peoples pursuit of happiness. Percent Who Believe Social Security Will Not Be There When They Retire All under 6560% Generation X70% Baby Boomers69% Social Security is an un-funded pay-as-you-go system. The idea is fundamentally flawed and follows the design of the famous illegal pyramid schemes. Many people claim that the constitution provides a social safety net, because the preamble of the constitution states that the government should promote the general welfare of the people. The constitution then goes on to list the enumerated powers of the state. Nowhere in the list does it say that the government should provide a retirement of healthcare for the people. If the founding fathers wanted these programs, they would have provided a way to pay for them. The rate of savings in the United States is 26 percent of Gross National Product; the country of Chile saves 30 percent of their GNP. With these two countries saving close to the same amount for their future, you would expect both to have similar results for retirees. The United States Government run pay-as-you-go system provides meager results as compared to even the least progressive private investment. The  Country of Chile used to have the same system the US currently uses, but decided to let people invest their own money how they choose in the open market. Chileans pensions are 70 to 100 percent higher than under the old government system since the switch to a private solution. The Chile system says that a person must contribute at least ten percent of their wages to the retirement program. Many workers contribute more than the ten percent that is required. In a private retirement system, people are free to choose what is best for them. Josà © Pià ±era, who is Chiles minister of labor, says: A worker can contribute more than 10 percent if he wants a higher pension or if he wants to retire early. Individuals have different preferences: some want to work until they are 85; others want to go fishing at 55, or 50, or 45, if they can. The uniform pay-as-you-go social security system does not recognize differences in individual preferences. In my country, those differences had led to pressure on the congress to legislate different retirement ages for different groups. As a result, we had a discriminatory retirement-age system. Blue-collar workers could retire at 65; white-collar workers could retire more or less at 55; bank employees could retire after 25 years of work; and the most powerful group of all, those who make the laws, the congressmen, were able to retire after 15 years of work. Opinion of Social Security Reforms The privatized Chilean system is obviously working better than the current US system. Many critics claim that the switch to a private system would be difficult to do. Chile, Mexico, Britain, and Australia have all successfully made the switch to a non-government system. All four of these countries are now striving under their new private retirement systems. The main problem cited in privatizing social security is how to pay the people that have paid into the program their whole life. There is an easy solution to this. The American Government has many programs that it does not have to provide under the Constitution. The government could easily abolish unnecessary arms such as the departments of Agriculture, Commerce, and Education. The government  also has excess assets that could be sold to support the people who have been forced to be dependent on Social Security. Social Securitys website lists the number of agency field offices at 1,300; thats a lot of office space, and a lot of bureaucrats that wouldnt need to be paid. If countries like Mexico and Chile can change over to privatized retirement systems, the United States will have no problem replicating their success. Josà © Pià ±era, Chiles minister of labor, described how the transition to a private system was made: The real transition cost of the system is the money the government ceases to obtain from the workers who moved to the new system, because the government is committed to pay the pensions of the people already retired and of those who will retire in the future. That transition cost can be calculated. In Chile it was around 3 percent of gross national product. How we financed it is another story. It will be done differently in each country. Suffice it to say that even though governments have enormous pension liabilities, they also have enormous assets. In Chile we had state-owned enterprises. In America I understand that the federal government owns a third of the land. I dont know why the government owns land, and I dont know the value. Nor am I saying that you should sell the land tomorrow. What I am saying is that when you consider privatizing Social Security, you must look at assets as well as liabilities. I am sure that the U.S. government has gigantic assets. Are they more or less than the liabilities of the Social Security system? I dont know, but the Cato project on privatizing Social Security will study that. In Chile we calculated the real balance sheet and, knowing there were enough assets, financed the transition without raising tax rates, generating inflation, or pressuring interest rates upward. In the last several years we have had a fiscal surplus of 1 to 2 percent of GNP. Opinion of Privatization Plan Strongly Favor38% Somewhat in Favor31% Lean in Favor4% No Opinion12% Lean Opposed2% Somewhat Opposed6% Strongly Opposed6% DK2% The future for Social Security looks grim, but there is some hope for privatization. The Republicans currently want private Social Security, and George Bush said Dont treat Social Security like its a federal program. In February of 1997 the Oregon state senate passed a resolution requesting that the state be allowed to opt out of the Federal Social Security program to start their own private retirement system. As people begin to see that the national program is going bankrupt, there will be great political pressure on congressmen to enact a new program. Medicare/Medicaid is another Federal program that is in great need of reform. Medical costs account for fourteen percent of our Gross Domestic Product. The current system decreases competition and skyrockets prices for medical care. The heavily regulated heath care business is restricted in not only getting cutting edge treatments to patients, but also in how they see patients. The American Medical Association limits the number of medical students accepted to Universities and decrease competition. There is never an ad in the help wanted section of the newspaper looking for doctors. When was the last time you heard of a doctor collecting unemployment? Government regulations also limit what non-doctors can do. Its easy to see that its doesnt take a PHD to do an annual checkup or to fix a broken bone. Regulations hurt Americans and drive up healthcare. With Medicare, there is a price put on procedures. An experienced doctor gets just as much as the recent med school graduate for doing open-heart surgery. The experienced  doctor is unable to make his own prices. These practices discourage competition and are bad for America. Canada and Britain both have socialized health care systems. The programs cost more than the semi-capitalist American system, but polls seem to show that citizens in those countries enjoy them. The care in these countries is mediocre and there is not much cutting edge medicine being done because there is no incentive to. There is also no incentive for doctors to perform to the best of their ability. Canadian patients cross the boarder to seek care at the Cleveland Clinic and when Margaret Thatcher needed surgery, she crossed the Atlantic to get help. The wait for cancer radiation in Canada is three to six months, twelve to twenty two months for a new plastic hip. Federally run programs will never be as cost effective or efficient as those run in the private sector. Time will tell as to whether Social Security and Medicare will fall out of Federal hands, but common knowledge of Economics shows that more competition breeds more innovative and less expensive solutions.

Women, Law, and Equality Essay -- Womens Rights, gender inequality

In the past 3 decades, women made great advancements in the workforce. First, they have become an integral part of the labour market; they have access to higher education and consequently to traditionally male dominated professions such as medicine, law and business. While statistics show that women are equal to men in terms of their numbers in the law profession, it is not clear however, whether they have achieved equality in all other areas of their employment. In this paper, I will examine women’s experiences in the law profession; whether women are earning equal salary compared to the male lawyers, do they still face barriers that are gender related and whether they have broken the glass ceiling in a profession that is supposed to be an example for practising equality and justice. The experience of women lawyers. Despite improvements to women’s role in the labour market, women are still facing obstacles that are gender related. Women continue to bear the main responsibility for domestic duties and child care and further more, policies have not enabled women to fully succeed. While women were able to gain access to this highly male dominated profession, and in some cases they outnumber their male counterparts, researchers agree that women are still facing discriminatory barriers. While discrimination is more subtle nowadays compared to the blatant and stupid style of the recent past (Adcock, 2006) women are still experiencing discrimination which is preventing them from receiving equal pay, thus hindering their progress and altering their career paths. They still face an array of barriers to achieving equality in their careers, including the allocation of work, opportunities for advancement, income differentials... ... of the choices that women are making or the constraints that they have to live with. I argue that women do not have the freedom to pursue their careers in the same way men do, they have the juggling act that they need to perform by satisfying their social stereotyping roles of care givers and nurturers. While equal pay is not an issue on the outset in federally regulated sector due to the Pay Equity legislated, however it would be interesting to see how many women are reaching high ranked positions in proportion to the overall demographics. According to a report y the Treasury board secretariat on diversity in the public service â€Å": Women†¦ have faced negative attitudes and stereotyping and have consistently undervalued† which confirms while women are supposed to be renumerated equally to men, they have yet to improve their representation in the leadership ranks.

Explore the Stages of Producing a Good Essay Essay

In this essay I will be discussing the different stages involved in producing a good college essay from start to finish. I will describe exactly what an essay is, how to break down and understand an essay title, how to prepare to write an essay, the key stages in essay development and the role of self reflection on the development of your essay writing skills. An essay is a major part of formal education and is used to access a student’s performance and show that they have researched and understood a particular subject or issue. It is a piece of writing with a particular structure and layout. â€Å"A short piece of writing on a particular subject, especially one done by students as part of the work for a course† (Cambridge Dictionary, 2009). â€Å"Usually it is written in a formal, academic style: the language is different from the way you speak†¦.it is not conversational† (Cottrell 2008:175). An essay title is given and this is used as a ‘question’ which must be ultimately answered throughout the essay. You are expected to stick to exactly what the essay title is asking for. Before starting an essay you need to make sure that you understand what it is asking you to do. â€Å"Every question has key words, and identifying them will help you decide what the assignment is about and what you have to doâ € (The Open University 2007). Once you have a clear idea of what the essay title is asking for you can then look more closely at the resources available to you, such as books, articles, class notes, the internet, television and newspapers. You need to weigh up the relevance of the information you find and be selective. You need to ask yourself ‘Do I need the information?’ and ‘How will I use this information?’ (Cottrell 2008:176). It is important to record which recourses you found your information in to avoid plagiarism. All recourses used in the essay needs to be listed in a reference list at the end of the essay and allows the reader to refer back to these sources for themselves. Next you need to organise and plan your essay. â€Å"The Structure and organisation of your work is just as important as the content. What matters is not just what you know but the way that you organise it† (Cottrell 2008:182). The hard part is getting the information and ideas that you have gathered i nto a well organised and coherent state and then start the actual writing. Arrange the information that you have already sourced into topics, a spider diagram can be handy for this. Make a plan for the main parts of your essay, and note down the key ideas and information for each part. An action plan is good way of preparing your ideas and will help you map out your essay. A good essay flows logically from one point to another, preparing an action plan can aid this. It gives you the chance to plan out what you may put in your introduction and conclusion, what your main points will be and what you will focus on in each paragraph in the main body of your essay. An action plan can help you to develop your argument but also keeps you on track. â€Å"If you simply start writing, with your pile of notes at your side, and you haven’t given any thought to the organisation of the ideas and information, then you are very likely to end up with an essay that rambles and has no clear sense of direction† (Edinburgh Napier University, 2009). A first draft is a chance to quickly jot down your ideas using your plan. This is not a final version of your essay. â€Å"Don’t expect to write perfect text at the first go, you will need to spend time going back over and rewriting or reorganising your paragraphs† (The Open University 2007). Don’t worry about spelling or punctuation at this stage; this is just a chance to get your ideas down on paper. Sometimes after writing your first draft your ideas may have developed from those which you put in your initial action plan. This means that you would have to revise your action plan â€Å"If necessary, rework your outline plan as you proceed. You may rework your plan several times as your thinking becomes more sophisticated. This is part of the process of understanding a subject† (Cottrell 2008:186). At this point you should have a good picture of what you want in your final essay. You should check that the information you have is grouped and in a good logical order, then begin to write your final draft. You need to make sure that your final draft makes sense, reading it aloud can help with this. Ensure that you have used enough evidence and examples to back up your argument and make certain that your references are written correctly and that the source of your information is made clear. Check for punctuation, spelling and grammar mistakes, getting this right can help improve your marks. Finally check that it is neat and well presented. It is important as a student to be able to reflect on how you learn best; this can help you improve your essay writing skills. Cottrell believes that you should make constructive use of the feedback that you receive from your tutors but it is also of great benefit to be able to work out for yourself what is it you do well and what you need to improve. This is also called self-reflection. Your performance as a student is likely to improve if you set time aside to reflect on how you learn. In conclusion, to produce a good college essay you must always keep focused on what the essay title is asking for, present your ideas and information in a well structured, coherent way, ensuring that it flows logically from the introduction to the conclusion. Support your ideas or arguments with good relevant evidence and make sure that this is properly referenced. Lastly always present your essays appropriately in good written English.

Government Intervention For R D And Entrepreneurship

Government Intervention To Promote RD And Innovation In Small Medium Businesses Summary – SBIR Policy The societies in the world are facing severe social and economic challenges. The 2008-09 downturn in the economy has led to lessened potential growth output, rise in unemployment and soaring public debt. To recover from this, it was necessary that the nations come up with sustainable growth sources. The search for new sources comes to an end when the countries have adopted a productivity growth infused with innovation. Innovation is the introduction of a significantly and newly improved product, method or process. It holds the access to boost productivity. All change contains a degree of novelty. (Glaister, 1996) The Oslo Manual gives account for three types of innovation. An innovation can be novel to the firm, novel to the market or novel to the world itself. The first type includes the circulation of the present innovation in the business. It is when the innovation has already for use in other companies. The change becomes new to the market when the firm is the first to introdu ce it to the market. An enormous range of factors like economy, government service, education or health, therefore, affects innovation. It can occur in any sector of the economy. (www.aaas.org) The current framework applies to change in business and sometimes in the public sector. The paper discusses innovation in the public sector in small-scale industries.
